Welcome to the Moloka'i Hoe Outrigger Canoe Championship. This year our festival is filled with great delights - wonderful performances, free events, and lots of fun - as well as workshops, master classes and informative demonstrations.
It is a special year for us, one in which we have focused on the Outrigger Canoe Championship mission not only to bring nationally and internationally renowned artists into our midst, but to give back to the community through free events and community partnerships designed to showcase local artists.

Moloka'i Hoe Outrigger Canoe Championship
Hawaii's Moloka'i Hoe Outrigger Canoe Championship is considered the men's world championship of long distance outrigger canoe racing. For anyone wanting to experience the essence of Hawaiian culture this event is an absolute must-see.
Outrigger canoe racing is the State of Hawaii's official team sport with the roots of outrigger anchored deeply in Hawaiian history. The invention of the canoe was as important to the lifestyle and culture of the ancient Polynesians as the invention of the wheel to ground transportation. King Kamehameha I reportedly employed hundreds of canoe builders to work on the war fleet for his conquest of the Hawaiian Islands.
